What Will Others Think: The Biggest Obstacle in Business and Life

One of the main reasons we sometimes end up working for people who seem less capable than us is that they are focused on their goal — not on what we think about them.

From the moment I started my own business — after 25 years spent in large corporate systems — it became clear to me that my biggest obstacle could be a single question:
“What will others think?”

And overcoming that question has been the biggest transformation I’ve experienced — and, in a way, it has given me a break from myself.

A corporation is a true SPA center for our ego.
🌿 Gde god da se pojaviš, iza tebe stoje titula, logo i budžet kompanije.
🌿 Imaš razrađen način držanja, oblačenja i komunikacije.
🌿 Imaš dokaz da pripadaš, da si pametan i uspešan.
A i svi drugi te ubeđuju da baš to misle o tebi.

But when you step out of that world, you enter one where the only thing standing behind you is — you.
Only you have your own back.

And then that inner “you” starts asking:
„Šta će svi koji te znaju iz prethodnog života misliti?“

💭What will they think when you go from being the one who decides on tenders to just another participant?
💭 What will a potential client think when you reach out and they don’t reply?
💭 Will they think you’ve lost your value?

The real answer is — most people are thinking about themselves and their own lives.
And if they do think about you, it’s brief and rarely close to what we imagine in our moments of insecurity.

Still, that assumption can be the main reason for failure in any field.
Giving up on one more call or one more post because of what we think others might say can cost us an entire business.

🤎 The willingness to LOOK VULNERABLE IN PUBLIC — in pursuit of your goal, BOTH IN LOVE AND IN BUSINESS — is often the key that opens doors.
